The Republic of Serbia is the only state outside the European Union that has been offered free access to all data.
This was accomplished thanks to the BioSens Institute from Novi Sad, which won the European competition of the best projects, attended by more than 200 registered organisations from all over Europe.
Access to these data is of particular importance for domestic agriculture, small and medium-sized enterprises that will be able to offer their innovative products based on the use of Sentinel data on the global market from now on.
The government also adopted the Decree on the establishment of the Office for Information Technology and Electronic Administration, which will be positioned as a central function in the government and will be directly responsible to the Prime Minister.
No additional funds from the budget of the Republic of Serbia are needed for the start of the office.
The task of the office will be to consolidate state IT resources, to ensure the connection of various information systems and to provide strong support and basis for the development of the electronic administration of the Republic of Serbia.
The establishment of the office is also the realisation of the long-lasting dream of the IT community in the country: that there is a state-level IT authority at the highest level - the Government of the Republic of Serbia, which will certainly contribute to the further growth of the ICT sector in the Republic as one of the fastest growing sectors and enable further GDP growth.
The Office starts working on the eighth day from the publication of the Decreee in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia.
The Serbian government has also adopted a Decree on the catalogue of jobs in public services and other public organisations.
