Director of the Office for Kosovo-Metohija Marko Djuric today held an emergency meeting with senior representatives of EULEX regarding the increasingly frequent attacks on Serbs and open threats of violence coming from extreme political and religious circles in the province.
Djuric requested from international representatives to take concrete measures to prevent further deterioration of the security situation in the province.
He stressed that the latest series of attacks on the citizens of Serbian nationality in Kosovo-Metohija has caused great concern and anxiety of the Serbian people in the province.
It is necessary to make serious efforts on the ground so that the instigators and organisers of such attacks are disabled to impair the security situation in the province and threaten all that has been achieved in the process of normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Pristina, warned Djuric.
He today spoke on the phone with Angelina Eichhorst, European External Action Service Director for Western Europe, about the current security situation in Kosovo and the prospects of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.
Djuric stressed the key importance of the implementation of the agreements reached on the formation of the Community of Serbian municipalities to continue the process of dialogue and normalisation of relations.
