$10 million raised for reconstruction of Kosovo-Metohija heritage

At the first international donor conference for raising funds to restore and preserve Kosovo’s cultural heritage organised by UNESCO in Paris today, $10 million was collected.

UNESCO Director-General Koichiro Matsuura announced that among the donors are France, Germany, the US, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy and Sweden.
Matsuura said that the sum of $10 million does not include bilateral agreements in which donor countries individually pledge to give aid, for example Sweden.
The aim of the international donor conference for Kosovo’s cultural heritage is to gather funds for the reconstruction, protection and preservation of numerous Christian and Islamic monuments and other important historical sites destroyed in recent years.
