The memorandum defines cooperation in the field of information exchange and data security with the aim of detecting and preventing illegal trade in cigarettes, grey economy as well as the protection of intellectual property relating to cigarette trademarks owned by BAT-Southeast Europe, according to the statement.
BAT representatives said that results in combating illegal trade in cigarettes in Serbia’s market are impressive, which gives strategic importance to the memorandum signed today, reads the statement.
Thanks to activities of the Serbian Ministry of Finance and the Customs Administration, the share of illegal cigarettes in the Serbian market has been reduced from 60 percent to six percent in the past four years, the statement recalled.
