Pristina violates agreements reached in Brussels

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic said that Pristina yesterday breached several agreements reached in Brussels, and recalled that point 1 of the Brussels agreement stipulates the freedom of movement and the right of all citizens to move freely, without anyone having the right to prevent them from doing that.

Nikolic told reporters after the session of the National Security Council, held after yesterday's events related to the train that was going from Belgrade to Kosovska Mitrovica, that there is a provision that says that special units ROSU cannot come north of the Ibar River without getting the authorisation of the NATO and the local community.

He also underlined that the EU and NATO have not given the right response to yesterday's events.

We will never start or cause a conflict, but we as a state have to protect our people and territory, the President stated, adding that Kosovo is a territory under the control of the UN, with the major role of the EU.

According to him, it is obvious that the agreements reached in Brussels only serve to remind Serbia of all its commitments and for Pristina to violate them.

Nikolic said that his suggestions to the National Security Council was to now negotiate in Brussels exclusively about when the train will pass, i.e. about the freedom of movement.

Under international law, Kosovo is a territory of Serbia and every citizen there has to be safe, Nikolic underlined.

We will act in line with the Serbian Constitution, which is clear. We are obliged to secure every inch of our territory and every citizen. In that we are united and they should not provoke us, the Serbian President stated.

Every next attempt of the interim institutions of authority in Pristina to cause a conflict, such as yesterday's events related to the train on the Belgrade-Kosovska Mitrovica line will end badly, Nikolic concluded.

The session of the National Security Council, chaired by President Nikolic, was attended by Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Nebojsa Stefanovic, Minister of Defence Zoran Djordjevic, Minister of Justice Nela Kuburovic, Police Director Vladimir Rebic and the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Army, General Ljubisa Dikovic.
