Head of the Coordinating Centre for Kosovo-Metohija Nebojsa Covic said that the Plan for the return of refugees to the Serbian southern province, adopted by the Council for Kosovo-Metohija, will be presented and submitted to the Serbian government for verification so that its implementation could begin as soon as possible.
Speaking at a press conference held yesterday at the Coordinating Centre, Covic said that the Plan is an improved version of the one from 2002. He said that the Centre's Department for Return prepared detailed reports on the returnees which, according the data of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, show that 12,000 displaced persons have returned to Kosovo so far, of which 5,000 are Serbs.
Covic said that the Council concluded that Kosovo Serbs should not join the Kosovo institutions for now. Apart from the working groups for the missing persons and energy that have already been formed, the working group for the return will hold its first session on May 12.
