Head of the Serbian government's Office of Media Relations Srdjan Djuric
In a statement to the Tanjug news agency, Djuric said that Kosovo-Metohija was the only province in Europe where people were being constantly persecuted and threatened and their property destroyed because of their religion and nationality.
He said that threats, attacks and bombings in Kosovo-Metohija continue after Europe marked the day of victory over fascism and celebrated the anniversary of the historical defeat of hate, intolerance, racial, religious and national persecution.
Djuric underlined that UNMIK’s mandate in the southern Serbian province is to establish the founding values of modern Europe, which it struggled to attain exactly sixty years ago, and to prevent the abuse of the Serb and other non-Albanian populations.
Last Saturday Milenko Vulic (62) was beaten in front of his home in the Devet Jugovica village near Pristina, three young men of Serb nationality were shot while driving in a car in the Donja Brnjica village on Sunday, and the house belonging to the Marinkovic family was demolished today in Klokot.
