Director of the Office for Kosovo-Metohija Marko Djuric met today with Ambassador of Norway to Serbia Sanes Arne Bjornstad and expressed gratitude to the government of that country for the help that it continuously provides for the reconstruction, renovation and equipping of Serbian monasteries and churches in Kosovo-Metohija, for which it has donated €4.5 million since 2008.
Djuric pointed to Ambassador Bjornstad to the continuing desecration of the Temple of Christ the Savior in Pristina, as an illustrative example of the relationship of the local political structures towards the property of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
He expressed his gratitude for the fact that Norway has donated approximately €5 million since 2008 in support of numerous projects in the north of Kosovo-Metohija, adding that he expects that this aid to the endangered Serbian people in the province will be continued.
The Director of the Office for Kosovo-Metohija also informed Ambassador Bjornstad about the course of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, stressing that Belgrade is consistently committed to this form of resolution of disputes, while Pristina has lately used provocative unilateral acts to obstruct the talks.
According to Djuric, it is particularly worrying that the provocations of Pristina are as a rule aimed at the suppression of rights and freedoms of the Serbian people in Kosovo-Metohija, which once again confirms that the Albanian political elite does not want to create a stable multiethnic society.
However, Belgrade will continue to sincerely work to improve relations between Serbian and Albanian people and create conditions for the normal flow of people, goods and services between central Serbia and the southern province, reads a statement by the Office for Kosovo-Metohija.
