Simona-Mirela Miculescu and Marko Djuric
Djuric told Miculescu about the position of the Serbian government regarding the unilateral attempts by Pristina to seize the Trepca Mines and announced the start of a diplomatic offensive of Belgrade in order to inform the international political circles about this act of legal violence.
He explained in detail yesterday’s
conclusions of the Serbian government, pointing out that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been instructed to inform about this issue via diplomatic correspondence members of the UN Security Council, as well as all members of the European Union.
In addition, at the regular meeting of the Security Council on Kosovo-Metohija in November, First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic will point to the actions undertaken by Pristina, which represent a flagrant violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1244.
Djuric also announced that, in accordance with yesterday's decision of the Serbian government, the Office for Kosovo-Metohija will initiate the formation of a legal and economic team that will take measures to protect the property and other interests of Serbia and its citizens in the southern province.
Despite the potentially dangerous unilateral decisions of Pristina, including yesterday's adoption of the unimplementable Law on Strategic Investment, Belgrade is still ready to talk about the property and come up with a solution for all disagreements through dialogue, the Director of the Office for Kosovo-Metohija reiterated.
However, he warned that after the adoption of the Law on Trepca and other unilateral acts by the provisional institutions of self-government in Kosovo-Metohija, the level of trust Belgrade in Pristina and its capacity to negotiate in good faith is understandably low.
Djuric said that for Serbia it is of great importance the support which the United Nations give, regarding the status of Kosovo-Metohija, to fundamental principles of international law, which is reflected in the Security Council Resolution 1244.
