Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, who is also Chairman of the Committee for Raising Memorial to Stefan Nemanja, chaired today the first inaugural session of the Committee, which made a decision to announce a public domestic tender for raising a memorial to this ruler, and a memorial “Serbian Middle Ages”.
A commission has been set up at the session that will define the competition task and prepare the entire competition process so that the tender could be announced as soon as possible.
Members of this commission will be Minister of Justice Nikola Selakovic, Academician Ljubomir Maksimovic and Academician Svetomir Arsic-Basara, who are also members of the Committee.
The first prize at the competition will be RSD 1 million, the second RSD 600,000 and the third RSD 400.000.
At the proposal of the Prime Minister, the Committee expressed the intention to place the future memorial to Stefan Nemanja and the memorial complex at the corner of the Kneza Milosa and Nemanjina streets.
The final decision on the location will be made at the next session, in cooperation with the Serbian government.
The session was also attended by other Committee members: Dean of the Belgrade Faculty of Law Sima Avramovic, architect Vojislav Milanovic, Metropolitan of Zagreb and Ljubljana Porfirije, City Manager Goran Vesic, Chairperson of the Commission for Monuments and Names of Streets and Squares of the Belgrade City Assembly Jasmina Mitrovic-Maric, Deputy President of the Belgrade City Assembly Andrea Radulovic and City Secretary for Culture Vladan Vukosavljevic.
