Topics that are important for opening negotiation chapters 23 and 24 in the framework of the accession negotiations between Serbia and the European Union were discussed.
The current situation in the area of justice, freedom and security in Serbia compared to the EU acquis is being discussed, especially on the normative and institutional capacities and the capacities of human resources for the implementation of the acquis and concerted activities.
The work of the Ministry of the Interior was presented, including the fight against organised crime, corruption, human trafficking, arms trafficking and the fight against drug trafficking.
A special block is dedicated to the areas of visa, asylum and migration, and the emphasis was placed on Serbia's efforts in addressing migrant crisis.
On the second day, areas such as combating terrorism, money laundering, justice, fundamental rights and freedom of speech, religion and association will be discussed.
In relation to the operational conclusions of the second session of the Subcommittee, held in June 2015 in Belgrade, it was estimated that the Serbian Ministry of the Interior made a significant step forward in raising the administrative capacity for the implementation of the EU acquis, and that the activities foreseen in the Action Plan for Chapter 24 are adequately monitored and implemented
