Đurić emphasised that Serbia attaches great importance to the development of cooperation with the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, and that Serbia’s presence at this meeting confirms its commitment to building stronger ties with this region.
The head of Serbian diplomacy thanked the Secretary General of the OAS for the support that the OAS provides to Serbia as an observer state, emphasising that Serbia has sincere partners within the OAS.
He pointed out that it is important for Serbia to actively participate in multilateral fora, especially those that promote dialogue and respect for international law.
Đurić also reiterated Serbia's openness to cooperation in the areas of education, cultural exchange and strengthening institutional ties.
The Serbian Foreign Minister also invited other OAS member states that have not yet confirmed their participation, to participate in Specialised Expo 2027 in Belgrade, which, he pointed out, is also an opportunity to further connect Serbia with the Latin American and Caribbean region, both in the field of culture and in the field of investment and technological cooperation.
The officials agreed that there is room for more concrete forms of cooperation in the coming period, and Đurić expressed the expectation that the dialogue between Serbia and the OAS will continue through regular contacts and participation in upcoming forums, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
