The Ministry of Education announced that the delivery of certain textbooks for the 2025/2026 academic year, provided by the Ministry, has begun for primary school students attending classes in the languages of national minorities.

The Ministry of Education announced that the delivery of certain textbooks for the 2025/2026 academic year, provided by the Ministry, has begun for primary school students attending classes in the languages of national minorities.
A total of 204 textbook titles have been prepared for various mandatory subjects in Hungarian, Romanian, Ruthenian, Croatian, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Slovak and Albanian. These textbooks will be distributed to more than 28,000 students in 163 primary schools.
Education in one’s mother tongue is a fundamental right of national minorities, guaranteed by the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia, as well as by relevant laws and implementing regulations.
Students from eight national minorities – Albanian, Bosniak, Bulgarian, Hungarian, Romanian, Ruthenian, Slovak and Croatian – receive full instruction in their native language, with Serbian taught as a mandatory non-native language.
