Emphasising the continuity of very good cooperation and exceptional bilateral relations between Serbia and France, the interlocutors agreed that regular political dialogue at the highest level contributes greatly to their strengthening.
Roquefeuil conveyed to Minister Đurić greetings from French Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot, as well as the expectation that their meeting will soon follow.
Đurić thanked France for its consistent support and active assistance to our country in achieving its strategic foreign policy goal of European integration, and confirmed Serbia's commitment to cooperation in the field of foreign and security policy with the EU.
The Serbian Foreign Minister informed his guest about the latest pressure exerted by the Albin Kurti regime on the Serb population in Kosovo and Metohija, emphasising that the unfounded arrest of the Assistant Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija and a member of the negotiating team of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Igor Popović, is a further step in obstructing dialogue and destabilising the entire region.
In this regard, Đurić expressed his gratitude to the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, which said in a statement issued today that this country hopes for the speedy release of Popović, who is in custody in Gnjilane.
The Serbian Foreign Minister stressed that the immediate release of Popović is the main goal, and that the relevant Serbian authorities will take all possible political and legal measures against those responsible, remaining firmly committed to preserving peace and stability.
The talks also touched on regional issues, and the interlocutors also expressed satisfaction with the strategic partnership between Serbia and France and the dynamic development of trade and French investments, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
