Speaking to the press on the occasion of the sentence to Ivanovic, Djuric said that the interim institutions of authority in Pristina and the international community should give additional guarantees that dialogue is not pointless.
He said that the sentence to Ivanovic is politically motivated and has nothing to do with law and justice, but that it is a political message not only to Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija, but also to Belgrade and Serbia, as well as to political representatives of Kosovo Albanians because the goal is to establish an artificial political balance.
According to Djuric, Oliver Ivanovic and all other defendants in that trial were receiving continuous support from Belgrade.
Belgrade stands by its people in Kosovo-Metohija, but here the issue is not law and justice, but a grave injustice, because one man is expected to be someone’s hostage and be in prison, Djuric said.

The Director of the Office for Kosovo-Metohija added that Ivanovic is being helped by a team of top lawyers, but there are no lawyers who could help when there is a political will to punish and humiliate Serbia.
The EULEX Trial Chamber sentenced today Olivar Ivanovic to nine years of imprisonment at the Basic Court in Kosovska Mitrovica for war crimes committed in this city in 1999.
The other four Serbs – former police colonel of the Serbian Ministry of the Interior Dragoljub Delibasic, Professor Aleksandar Lazovic, attorney-at-law Ilija Vujacic and lawyer Nebojsa Vujacic were acquitted of all charges.
