First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic said regarding the statement of US Ambassador to Serbia Michael Kirby, that Serbia and the United States have a different view of the issue of the unilaterally proclaimed independence of Kosovo, which could be seen during the voting on Kosovo’s application for membership in UNESCO.
Dacic told the press that, as Ambassador Kirby himself says, there are different views on that matter between the United States and the European Union (EU) too, since five EU member states have not recognised the unilaterally proclaimed independence of Kosovo.
He underlined that Serbia will not change its principled policy and will remain fully dedicated to dialogue as the only way to solve all outstanding issues.
The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs said that dialogue is status neutral and Serbia of course will not support membership of Kosovo in international organisations, which would mean legalisation of the unilaterally proclaimed independence of Kosovo.
