Serbia unstoppable on European path

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic said today that tomorrow's opening of the first chapters in the membership negotiations with the EU is a historic day for Serbia.
Dacic said in a statement for the press that this is not only a recognition for everything that the Serbian government has done, but is also an indication that Serbia is irreversibly on its European path and that it strives for a society which is based on European values.
According to Dacic, Serbia is ready for the opening of chapters, along with our unabashed desire that the negotiation process, with all the difficulties that will accompany us, completes by 2019, in order to apply for membership by 2020, and so that we would not wait for the next budget cycle for seven years.
The first big step has been made, but we will still need big steps. Time has shown that this Serbian government, led by Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, is ready and able for such a historic step forward, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs concluded.
