Agreements were signed on cooperation in tourism as well as on the implementation of projects in the field of public-private partnerships, which marked an end to a session of the joint committee for economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
Ljajic also initiated the start of negotiations on the conclusion of the free trade agreement, which was approved by the Iranian side, noting that such an agreement would significantly contribute to increasing the volume of trade and access to our businesspeople on the market of approximately 80 million people.
During the session of the joint committee, a business forum was held that gathered 35 Serbian and 95 Iranian companies, where they agreed on the first concrete business arrangements.
It was also agreed that a group of Iranian businessmen in the field of agriculture and food industry, energy, IT sector and the car industry, which are perceived as a branch with the greatest potential for further cooperation in April next year.
Iranian Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh, who together with Ljajic chairs the joint committee, confirmed that Iran will open in Serbia its economic mission, which will be the business centre of that country for the entire region of the Balkans and southeast Europe.
Ljajic told reporters after the meeting of the joint committee that Serbia expects of Iranian businessmen to invest in our country, and to participate in the completion of the privatisation process.
We also expect that our construction operations return to the market of Iran, Ljajic concluded.
