Speaking at a regular monthly press conference, Dacic said that Serbia is dissatisfied with the situation in Kosovo in connection with the implementation of the Brussels agreement, and pointed out that what is happening in Pristina now is an unprecedented case.
He underlined that in no agreement signed by him or by Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic does it say that anyone from Belgrade or Pristina can suspend the agreements reached in Brussels.
According to Dacic, the toleration of Pristina’s refusal to implement its obligations brings everyone to a big dilemma of whether that is done in an organised and well-planned manner, or these are unilateral moves by Pristina.
We demand seriousness in the implementation of the Brussels agreement, Dacic underlined and added that the essence of that agreement is the Community of Serbian municipalities, which is now being suspended.
That means playing with the stability in the region, just as Kosovo’s application for UNESCO membership, he warned.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs explained that Belgrade knows that Europe has many other problems, of which the most important is the migrant crisis, but it does not see any other way in further relations with the EU than the implementation of the agreement and the continuation of dialogue with Pristina.
That is why we want the EU to tell us clearly what its position on these issues is, he reiterated and recalled that Belgrade and Pristina are equal partners in this process and that the EU must respect Serbia.
Dacic reiterated that Prime Minister Vucic clearly said that such an attitude towards Serbia will not be tolerated and that our country will have its answers to these questions if they get complicated even more.
He said that Serbia expects at the beginning of this month a report from the European Commission on its progress in the European integration process so that it could open first chapters in the negotiations with the EU.
The First Deputy Prime Minister also said that the voting on Kosovo’s application for admission to UNESCO can be expected at the UNESCO General Conference around 9 November.
He expressed optimism that the result of the vote will be favourable for Serbia and reiterated that the Serbian government will fight against this admission until the very end.
This is the position of the Serbian government, the Prime Minister and the Serbian President. There is nothing more important to us than this, Dacic stated and added that this will be a great battle with uncertain outcome.
