The Serbian government adopted the Bill on enforcement and security which stipulates that bailiffs be responsible for all enforcements, except for enforcements in family disputes and the readmission of employees to work, which will remain in the jurisdiction of courts.
This bill will enable a more efficient enforcement of court decisions.
The new law will also allow for the old enforceable cases, of which there are around 2 million, to be referred to bailiffs, i.e. the trustees will be able to decide within a legal deadline whether they want the court to complete the case or for it to be referred to the bailiff.
The government also adopted the Bill on amendments to the Law on the organisation of courts. This bill harmonises this law with the Law on enforcement and security, bearing in mind that the new Law on enforcement and security transfers the jurisdiction for deciding in the second instance and enforcement procedure to higher courts.
