Dacic told reporters at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that our country regardless of today's decision will continue to advocate the preservation and protection of cultural heritage of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the Serbian people and Serbia in Kosovo-Metohija.
He said that Serbia will try to implement this objective at the General Conference of UNESCO too, which will be held in November, as well as in all other political and diplomatic activities in the future.
The First Deputy Prime Minister pointed out that our country has done everything in its power to that effect and that all countries in the world know our position on this matter.
The Executive Council of UNESCO can make whatever decision it wants, but it cannot erase history because it has always been and will always be Serbian cultural and religious heritage in Kosovo- Metohija, Dacic stated.
According to Dacic, if the Executive Council adopts the recommendation on Kosovo’s admission to UNESCO, that will be an unprecedented decision because there is no international legal basis for that since the United Nations has not recommended the adoption of such a decision.
In addition, this would be the first time to give membership to someone who has not passed qualifications for the preservation of cultural heritage, he stated.
