Director of the Serbian government’s Office for Kosovo-Metohija Marko Djuric stated today that the Serbian government will make it clear to the EU that it is unacceptable for Belgrade to negotiate the status of the self-proclaimed “Kosovo state” instead of normalisation of relations with Pristina.
Djuric told Radio Belgrade that there is no doubt that this is an attempt to link the issue of European integration of Serbia with concessions from Belgrade regarding Kosovo’s status.
He said that it is obvious that negotiation chapters will be opened for Serbia, but that the speed of European integration of our country is questionable.
Djuric announced that Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic will meet with Kosovo Prime Minister Isa Mustafa this evening and that the main subject of their talks will be dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.
He said that Belgrade will express its dissatisfaction with problems in the implementation of the agreements reached during the dialogue.
Speaking about the initiative on Kosovo’s admission to UNESCO, he underlined that this is an attempt to solve outside the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina an issue which is of crucial importance for the Serbian people.
Apart from our citizens we are fighting for, no issue is more important for us in Kosovo-Metohija than cultural and religious heritage, the Director of the Office for Kosovo-Metohija stated.
