Dacic stressed that the maintenance of peace is a shared responsibility that requires continuous contribution of all stakeholders.
Serbia attaches great importance to the key role of the United Nations in the promotion and maintenance of international peace and security and considers peacekeeping operations as one of the most important instruments for a lasting peace in the world, he said.
Dacic added that political support is crucial to the fulfilment of the mandate of established missions and eliminate the gap between the objectives and results on the ground.
Mobilisation of additional and specific capacities is necessary in order to improve the functioning of field missions, the Minister said and added that the political and security conditions are continuously and intensively changing and that is why it is necessary to ensure the existing financial and human resources within the UN system to be used in a timely manner and in an optimal way.
Dacic recalled that partnership action calls for a strategy to unite efforts in maintaining and building peace and stressed that the implementation must ensure greater cooperation with regional actors, coordination and harmonisation of priorities and efforts.
Serbia agrees with the need for institutional reforms and supports efforts aimed at increasing the efficiency and operability of the peacekeeping forces, including the use of modern technologies, Dacic said.
