Speaking at the Human Dimension Implementation Meeting held in Warsaw, Dacic said that this event is an excellent opportunity to carry out a review of the implementation of obligations assumed and the exchange of views on a number of issues in the field of human rights.
Serbia has taken over the chairmanship of the OSCE in an extremely difficult time for the entire space of the OSCE, he added, warning that the situation in and around Ukraine remains a serious threat to European security.
Throughout the year, the presidency, and the Organisation as a whole, have continued to do everything in their power to support the implementation of the Minsk agreement to bring about a cessation of hostilities and to move towards a political process.
Dacic said that one of the major challenges that Europe is facing is the increasingly serious migrant crisis.
The response to the crisis to date, Dacic warned, has not been satisfactory.
Erecting fences, border closures, and excessive use of force against people who are fleeing from the devastating conflict is not a response in accordance with the commitments on human rights made in the participating states of the Organisation, or with other international norms and standards on human rights.
The Minister pointed out that for this reason, we should strive for the respect of human rights of all, especially bearing in mind that, in times of conflict and crisis, the basic human rights are affected the most.
The Republic of Serbia is among the countries that have been affected by a huge wave of migrants who come from war-torn areas and has done everything to provide an adequate response to the current crisis, Dacic stated at the Human Dimension Implementation Meeting in Warsaw.
