Mihajlovic said at the opening of the Sopot Kosmajski-Kovacevac railway, on Corridor 10, that on this section, 18.4 kilometres long, the traffic speed of trains will be increased from 30 to 120 kilometres per hour.
Congratulating 15 September – the Serbian Rail Workers Day, Mihajlovic stated that Serbian railways are getting back on their feet and that after 20 years we can finally say that we will modernise 500 kilometres of railroads in Serbia in next three years.
She also pointed out that the value of the current railway projects is above €1billion, and recalled that the first railway Belgrade-Nis was opened 131 years ago and that it was linking Serbia with Thessaloniki, Pest and Constantinople.
Mihajlovic said that we should fight together for each passenger and each tonne of goods and pointed out that in the previous year and a half the Serbian government set the railway development as one of its priorities.
According to Mihajlovic, the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure will assist the Serbian Railways in the implementation of all projects.
