After meeting with Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn, Dacic said at a joint press conference that two dates are being discussed as a potential dates for holding the second intergovernmental conference, at which first chapters should be opened, and these are November or 15-16 December at the latest.
In connection with this, Asselborn recalled that Luxembourg, which will hold the EU presidency by the end of the year, has always supported Serbia's admission to the European Union.
We will do everything in our power to open the first chapter this year, he underlined.
Speaking about the refugee crisis, Dacic stressed that Serbia insists to get included into EU measures for systemic solution for the migrant crisis.
He noted that Serbia does not have access to EU funds to address the issue, and added that the assistance that has been announced so far to our country for this purpose is small compared to the needs.
He underlined that Serbia has not made the decision to open camps to accommodate migrants in Serbia, but that it is building reception centres.
Asselborn stressed that Serbia is very active on this issue, and expressed gratitude to the Government of Serbia for its efforts.
We need to cooperate very closely with the countries of the Western Balkans in order to resolve this issue, he said, recalling that Serbia had a painful experience with refugees in the 1990s and that the authorities and the people of Serbia understand what kind of tragedy that is.
