The High Segment of this international meeting, which will be held on 24 August, will be attended by foreign ministers and other senior officials of the Parties to this international treaty.
In addition to participating in the work of the High Segment of the conference, Dacic will meet with the ministers of foreign affairs of Mexico, Luxembourg, Guatemala, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and will also hold meetings as part of the conference with ministers of other Latin American and Caribbean states.
The significance of this conference is that it is a first high-level meeting since the Treaty came into force on 24 December 2014.
The Treaty is the first international legal instrument that defines the principles and criteria which states must abide by when approving transfers of conventional arms.
This international treaty also constitutes a joint contribution of the states to improving global peace and security, as well as to the fulfilment of obligations from other international instruments in the field of international humanitarian law, reads a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
