Serbia, Egypt traditional friends

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic received today on a farewell visit Ambassador of Egypt Menha Mahrous Bakhoum and thanked her on her contribution to the improvement of bilateral relations, with the wish that good cooperation between Serbia and Egypt continues in the future.

Dacic referred to his recent meeting with Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry during the opening of the new Suez Canal and pointed to the importance of exchange of visits at the highest level.
He expressed interest in improving overall cooperation between Serbia and Egypt, which is the best indicator of traditional friendship between the two peoples and the common founding role of the two states in the history of the Non-Aligned Movement.
In addition, the First Deputy Prime Minister recalled that Serbia decided to support Egypt’s candidacy for non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2016-2017.
Dacic voiced hope that Egypt will not back the initiative for accession of Kosovo to UNESCO.
