Djuric, who
talked yesterday with Head of the UN Mission to Kosovo Farid Zarif, said in a statement to Radio Television Serbia (RTS) that Ivanovic, by all rules – of human, political and legal action, should be released from detention, in case the competent court does not decide otherwise.
We sincerely expect that the decision will be made in accordance with law and justice, Djuric stated and called once more for Ivanovic to be released on bail.
According to Djuric, during his talks with Zarif he pointed to the extremely inhumane treatment of Ivanovic, where neither his family, nor the priest and doctors from Belgrade have been allowed to visit him in the hospital.
Djuric underlined that this is not in accordance with the standards of the 21st century and that Ivanovic’s detention is unfounded since all the witnesses have been heard and there is no element indicating his responsibility.
Speaking about a new round of dialogue in Brussels, the Director of the Office for Kosovo-Metohija said that Serbia is struggling to normalise relations and have peace with ethnic Albanians in Kosovo-Metohija and the wider region, and underlined that he wishes that the round of dialogue on 25 August ends with the adoption of principles for the establishment of the Community of Serbian Municipalities.
