Improving cooperation between Serbia, Holy See

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic today thanked Papal Nuncio Orlando Antonini for a comprehensive engagement during his mandate and for his personal contribution to the improvement of relations between the Holy See and Serbia.

During a farewell visit of Antonini, who ends his mandate at the end of September, Dacic underlined the importance of support of the Holy See to Serbia and other Western Balkan countries in the process of European integration.
He particularly expressed his gratitude for the principled position of the Holy See regarding the non-recognition of the unilaterally proclaimed independence of Kosovo-Metohija and expressed interest in preserving the Christian heritage in Kosovo.
It was estimated that bilateral relations are good, and the interest was expressed for their further improvement.
Antonini expressed satisfaction with the Serbian decoration recently presented to him by President of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic.
