Dacic underlined that Serbia is committed to maintaining the practice of quarterly reporting to the UN Security Council, although some countries argue that it should be done twice a year, not four times.
He pointed out that in the report of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and in the discussion of Security Council member states it was noted that it is very important to form as soon as possible the Community of Serbian municipalities, because they all recognised that as a priority item when it comes to implementation of the Brussels agreement.
According to Dacic, all Security Council member countries insisted on a rapid formation of a special court for war crimes of the KLA in Kosovo-Metohija and in connection with the report of Special Rapporteur of the Council of Europe Dick Marty.
We highlighted the constructiveness of Serbia when it comes to the continuation of dialogue, that we are willing to resolve all outstanding issues through dialogue. We also pointed to great security problems and problems in the return of internally displaced persons, the First Deputy Prime Minister said, adding that more than 200,000 people have the status of internally displaced persons and cannot return to Kosovo-Metohija.
Dacic underlined that in 16 years after the war ended only 2 percent of people had a sustainable return to Kosovo-Metohija.
Our position is that the holding of these sessions should continue. I commended the work of the UN Mission on behalf of Serbia, and I consider that the international presence should exist in Kosovo-Metohija, unlike Hashim Thaci, who asked that the UN mission be abolished since he believes that Kosovo is an independent state and there is no reason for a mission there, Dacic said.
He reiterated the position of Serbia that absolutely in line with UN Security Council Resolution 1244, it considers that the question of Kosovo's status is far from solved, as well as the political and security situation. Also, the situation regarding human rights, the rights of Serbs and other non-Albanians cannot be assessed positively by any means.
That is why the international presence, as kind of a guarantee, is still necessary in Kosovo-Metohija and we will firmly advocate that, Dacic concluded.
