Director of the Office for Kosovo-Metohija Marko Djuric said today that Pristina has decided to cancel the scheduled negotiations on the Community of Serbian Municipalities, which grossly violates the Brussels agreement.
Djuric said at an extraordinary press conference in the Serbian government that talks with Pristina on the Community of Serbian Municipalities were scheduled for 12 May, and that Pristina has canceled the arrival of their representatives.
He stated that Serbia will persevere to the formation of the Community of Serbian Municipalities and reiterated that Pristina thus flagrantly violates Article 14 of the Brussels agreement, which says that Pristina has a duty not to block Serbia in its European integration.
Unilateral cancellation of Pristina in the political sense is an attempt to create a hostage crisis in which Serbia should be held hostage, said Djuric and added that it is clear that Pristina does not have the political will to implement what has been agreed.
The Director of the Office for Kosovo-Metohija said that Brussels officials in informal talks expressed displeasure over such an attitude of Pristina.
Djuric said that it is important that the EU ensures that Serbia does not suffer the consequences because of the irresponsible behaviour of Pristina.
This decision of Pristina for normalisation of relations, he said, reiterating that he expects international mediators, which are the guarantee of the Brussels agreement, to exert pressure on Pristina and not to allow Serbia to be held hostage by its irresponsible and harmful behaviour.
Djuric said that EU Commissioner Johannes Hahn said yesterday that the establishment of the Community of Serbian Municipalities is one of the key elements that need to be fulfilled.
The Belgrade delegation will leave for Brussels on 12 May, he confirmed and added that Serbia is committed to it observing the Brussels agreement.
