Kostunica said that the website contains data, video materials, documents and photos on the developments in Kosovo-Metohija since the arrival of international forces in June 1999 until today, that is "all the raw, cruel and unbiased facts gathered in one place".
He said that the website was launched at the moment when Kosovo-Metohija again became a centre of attention on the eve of the talks on standards and the visit of the international Contact Group to Belgrade and Pristina scheduled for April 11 and 12.
According to Kostunica, the level of respect for human rights and standards reached in that field will be the subject of the talks.
Kostunica stressed that the Serbian government is prepared to take full and active part in the talks on the standards of human rights in Kosovo-Metohija, which are disastrous at the moment.
The Serbian Prime Minister said that he met today with representatives of the Svinjare village, which is near the southern part of Kosovska Mitrovica, who currently live in very difficult circumstances and where only a small number of houses are being reconstructed.
Head of the Coordinating Centre for Kosovo-Metohija Nebojsa Covic said that the task of this website is to present the real situation in the southern Serbian province, in a move to address the Kosovo-Metohija issues in a more serious manner.
Following UNMIK’s and the international community’s announcements that talks on Kosovo standards will follow under the principle “word by word”, Covic said that the Serb community demands the “facts by facts” approach, as “all words have been exhausted”.
Head of the Serbian government’s Office of Media Relations Srdjan Djuric said that the aim of the website is not to give responses to all problems in Kosovo-Metohija, but rather to document what followed after international forces came to the province.
Author and producer Ninoslav Randjelovic said that the web presentation offers the possibility of national and political unity, noting that the video and photo material was created in difficult conditions.
Photojournalist from Tanjug news agency Darko Dozet said that his exhibition of photographs entitled “The Roots of Soul” has been posted on the website. The exhibition was also presented in 20 cities across Serbia and will be shown in neighbouring countries and Russia.
He called on his colleagues to contribute to the website’s content in hopes of alerting local and international public and institutions relative to the situation in Kosovo-Metohija.
