Vucic explained that Serbia is ready for the continuation of this process as dialogue is the only way to achieve the main objective, and that is peace in the Balkans as a basis for its development.
After a century of conflicts, wars and victims, this government of Serbia has made a breakthrough in relation to the Albanians, which can certainly be called historic. Instead of conflict, this government has chosen agreement, instead of problems solutions and, most importantly, instead of death - life, the Prime Minister of Serbia underlined.
He pointed out that the government wants a normal, decent and orderly Serbia, and it is aware that this is possible only within an orderly environment.
We realize that dialogue is the only way to achieve this goal, and we will do everything for dialogue to continue in the manner that Serbia promoted - by adopting solutions that improve the lives of people in Kosovo-Metohija, said the Serbian Prime Minister.
This, however, will not prevent Serbia to continue to insist on its position that the self-proclaimed independence of Kosovo is illegal, but probably the first time in many years, this stance of a government of Serbia does not prevent life in Kosovo-Metohija, Vucic said.
On the contrary, we are committed to this life, putting it ahead of all other interests. The fact that Serbia wants to talk does not mean it is weak, the fact that we are constructive does not mean that Serbia is indulgent, that fact that we believe does not mean that we are naive, Vucic stated.
However, the Prime Minister noted, that for further talks Belgrade is missing an interlocutor on the other side of the table, since bodies of the executive power of the interim institutions of self-government in Pristina have not been established yet, even half a year after the elections.
We expect this government to be set up in the coming days, he said.
Despite the fact that the government in Pristina has not been set up, Belgrade has implemented a series of measures to which it had committed with the Brussels Agreement.
We have adopted amendments to the Law on Higher Education and the new Regulation on Cadastre, in order to allow full implementation of previously reached agreements in these areas, the Prime Minister of Serbia recalled.
Vucic expressed regret that no progress was made in implementing key part of the Brussels agreement concerning the formation of the Union of Serbian municipalities.
He stressed that Serbia wants more than anything else the political and economic stability in the entire Western Balkans.
Serbia has started, independently, without pressure from the outside, tough and comprehensive reforms that will bring a healthier and more competitive economy, freer and richer citizens. We do not invent problems outside our country and raise nationalist tensions in the region, because we have enough courage to face our problems and move boldly in addressing them, Vucic stated.
According to Vucic, Serbia did not want to get into any conflicts in the region, even of verbal nature, as the characteristic of weak and irresponsible politicians is that, whenever they have internal problems, they open an old national wound and try to pull the region backwards.
We do not take part in this. And this does not mean that we are weak, quite the contrary. This is a sign of our strength and long-term, strategic thinking, the Prime Minister of Serbia said.
In addition, Vucic said that Serbia calls on all active players in the international community to take with utmost seriousness the conclusions of Chief Prosecutor of the Special Investigation Unit of EULEX Clint Williamson on war crimes committed by members of the KLA in Kosovo-Metohija in 1999.
Vucic said that Serbia cannot accept part of the Report of the UN Secretary-General concerning the situation in northern Kosovo-Metohija, in the part which incompletely, and thus incorrectly, interprets the situation in the neighbourhood of Brdjani.
Speaking about the process of return of displaced and expelled persons from Kosovo-Metohija, the Serbian Prime Minister pointed out that five houses in Djakovica were destroyed by direct orders of Mayor of the Mimoza municipality Kusari Ljilja, which has sent a clear message to the Serbs that their return to this place is not desirable.
