The Serbian government’s Office for Kosovo-Metohija stated that Minister without portfolio responsible for Kosovo-Metohija Aleksandar Vulin and Minister of Defence Nebojsa Rodic will attend the first Easter liturgy at the Devic monastery today at midnight.
The Devic monastery
This liturgy marks the beginning of celebration in Orthodox temples of the greatest Christian holiday that celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The Devic monastery, one of the most famous Serbian religious sites, was built by Despot Djuradj Brankovic, five kilometres south of the town of Srbica.
The monastery was burnt to the ground in
the 2004 March pogrom and had also been severely damaged before that in 1999.
This nunnery and its nuns are guarded by the Kosovo Police Service (KPS), reads a statement by the Office for Kosovo-Metohija.
