Serbia’s presidency of UN General Assembly contributes to country’s international affirmation

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that President of the 67th session of the UN General Assembly Vuk Jeremic today handed over to Minister of Foreign Affairs Jovan Mrkic a report on Serbia’s presidency of the UN General Assembly.

The statement said that Serbia’s presidency over the UN General Assembly was dedicated to the preparation of a new global development strategy of the UN, which should come into force in 2015.
There was also a large number of thematic meetings and debates on important issues of today.
From March to September 2013, there were 18 such meetings, attended by officials of UN member states and a number of prominent figures from the academic, business, cultural and religious circles in the world.
The debates were devoted to the role of international criminal justice in the reconciliation process, global economic governance, peaceful settlement of disputes in Africa, sustainable development and climate change, culture in the context of sustainable development and entrepreneurship.
The first meeting of the General Assembly on the rule of law was held and the Arms Trade Treaty was adopted.
