The statement said that the meeting was attended by Defence Minister Nebojsa Rodic, Finance Minister Lazar Krstic, Chief of General Staff Ljubisa Dikovic, representatives of the Ministry of Economy and representatives of all defence sector companies.
They discussed implementation of financial consolidation plans for those companies, improving production capacities, social programmes for solving redundancy and resolving property issues arising from the privatisation process.
The defence industry is an important part of the economy of Serbia and it must further strengthen its organisation and business with regard to the production potential and export opportunities.
The Administrative cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Defence and the European Defence Agency, which was signed in Brussels by Defence Minister Nebojsa Rodic and High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union Catherine Ashton, who is also the Acting Director of the European Defence Agency opens new opportunities for development.
The agreement with the European Defence Agency aims to strengthen the domestic defence industry and research potential of Serbian institutes and technological modernisation of the armed forces, and also aims to improve military and defence capacities.
This is an opportunity to be seized, along with efforts to increase foreign investment capacity, faster implement promising projects and find customers in the global market.
