Minister of Energy, Development and Environmental Protection Zorana Mihajlovic spoke today with Deputy Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Martin Pecina about cooperation of the two countries in the field of energy.
The main topic of the meeting with the Czech delegation, led by Pecina, was the project of construction of the thermal power station Stavalj and investment in the mine of the same name in the Sjenica municipality.
In the talks held to date this project was evaluated as profitable, and today it was agreed to examine possible models of financing.
Mihajlovic underlined that the thermal power station Stavalj is one of priority projects in the new Energy Development Strategy, as well as the third block of the thermal power station Kostolac B and hydroelectric power plant Bistrica.
She pointed out that the realisation of these projects will significantly contribute to increasing employment rate in Serbia.
Pecina highlighted that Czech companies have state of the art equipment and great experience in the construction of energy facilities and confirmed readiness of the Czech side for continuation of talks, it is added in the statement.
