Rodic stated that cooperation through programmes of the European Defence Agency is a good way for Serbia to reach the level of capacity development which otherwise it could not achieve alone.
He explained that cooperation with this agency will contribute to the full compatibility of Serbia with EU member states, enable the strengthening of the domestic defence industry and the research potential of Serbian institutes and technological modernisation of the armed forces, and thus the improvement of military and defence capabilities.
The Minister recalled that the active involvement in the concept of the Common Security and Defence Policy of the EU has contributed to the improvement of the foreign policy position of Serbia, and announced that the Ministry will continue to actively participate in the EU operations for crisis management EUNAVFOR - Atalanta and EUTM - Somalia.
Ashton, who is also the Head of the European Defence Agency, was informed during the meeting about the interests and needs of Serbia for cooperation in the field of the Common Security and Defence Policy of the EU, reads a statement by the Ministry of Defence.
