At a meeting of representatives of the Serbian Ministry of the Interior, Commissariat for Refugees and Migration, ministries of health, and justice and public administration, ombudsman, the delegations of UN, UNHCR, Council of Europe and representatives of the NGOs dealing with this issue, it was pointed out that the problem of asylum seekers and migrants in Serbia requires the establishment of a systemic mechanism, improvement of cooperation with neighbouring countries and changes to the Law on asylum.
Apart from the municipalities of Loznica, Lajkovac, Tutin, Sjenica and Novi Pazar, there is an increasing number of local self-governments that are willing to provide a solidarity and humane reception of asylum seekers and migrants, it was concluded at the meeting.
