Government adopts decrees, decisions of importance for migration, sport

The Serbian government in a caretaker capacity adopted today several decrees, decisions and conclusions, including two decrees regarding areas in the purview of the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration.

Government members adopted the Decree establishing the Programme for the use of funds to address housing needs and for other refugee integration programmes in 2026, as well as the Decree establishing the Programme of incentives for implementing measures and activities necessary to achieve the set migration management goals within local self-government units for 2026.

Their adoption enables the implementation of measures and activities aimed at improving the living conditions of refugee families and internally displaced persons during their displacement, as well as the reintegration of returnees under readmission agreements, by providing assistance to improve housing conditions through the purchase of rural houses with a garden and the allocation of construction material packages.

The decrees will also facilitate the improvement of the financial situation of the most vulnerable families within these categories through the provision of food and firewood packages, including delivery.

The Serbian government adopted decisions to award monetary prizes to athletes who won medals at the European Rowing Championships in Varese, the World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam and the European Championships in the Olympic sport of swimming in Paris.

At the session, a decision was also adopted to grant national sports recognition to water polo player Marko Avramović.
