Continuity of reforms in EU accession process

The Serbian government in a caretaker capacity announced that the Operational Team for the Process of the Republic of Serbia’s Accession to the European Union held a regular meeting today, chaired by the Head of the Team and Chief Negotiator, Ambassador Danijel Apostolović.

Apostolović reiterated the importance of continuing work and implementing all activities feasible while the government is in caretaker mode, regardless of the upcoming elections, as well as preparing materials for the new government, in order to ensure the continuity of the reform process and avoid the loss of valuable time, which is also the expectation of European institutions.

He particularly emphasised the significance of the European Commission’s upcoming annual report, scheduled for release in late October, noting that all relevant institutions must approach the analysis of the report with the utmost seriousness, immediately review recommendations relevant to their respective areas, and prepare concrete measures for their implementation.

During the remainder of the meeting, members of the Operational Team presented results from their respective portfolios and provided detailed information on activities that could be carried out while the government is in caretaker mode.
