Government condemns arson in facility for asylum seekers in Obrenovac

Belgrade, 28 Nov 2013 –The Serbian government designated at its session today a facility of the company for catering and trade “Sava –Tent” in Obrenovac, in Milosa Obrenovica 189 Street, for temporary accommodation and provision of basic living conditions for persons seeking asylum in the Republic of Serbia.
Asylum seekers will also be placed in facilities in the municipalities of Sjenica and Tutin, as approved by the municipalities in question.
The Serbian government today freed asylum seekers from paying sojourn tax.
The government also tasked the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration, the relevant ministries and local self-governments with implementing this decision and providing the necessary accommodation to asylum seekers.
The government condemned in the harshest terms the violence exhibited and arson in the facility intended for accommodation of asylum seekers in Obrenovac.
