According to a statement of the Ministry, the meeting was held in order to continue the successful cooperation which was started with Duguid’s predecessor, Lee Litzenberger.
The two officials highlighted the importance of the International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Programme (ICITAP) and its contribution to the training of police officers of the Ministry of the Interior.
In the field of education, the role of the George E. Marshall European Centre for Security Studies in Germany, International Law Enforcement Academy in Budapest, FBI Academy in Quantico, and the Drug Unit Commanders Academy (DUCA) was pointed out.
Also, cooperation with FBI Regional office in Sarajevo and DEA Regional office in Rome was described as very successful.
This also refers to cooperation of the Ministry of the Interior and US law enforcement agencies. With the aim of improving it, Bozovic proposed to examine once more the possibility of sending FBI representatives to the US Embassy in Belgrade.
The two officials looked at the fight against hi-tech crime, which they both agreed is the major security threat of modern times.
Bozovic and Duguid also touched on the implementation of the Brussels agreement in the part that refers to competencies of the Interior Ministry, it is added in the statement.
