Speaking at a conference “The Application of Human Dimension 2013” , organised by the OSCE in Warsaw, she said that our country has undertaken a series of measures and activities to improve both the normative regulation of this matter and the situation on the ground.
According to Stamenic, the basis of the minority policy is a full integration of minorities into social life, with further preservation and development of their national and cultural characteristics.
There are several institutions in Serbia that deal with the monitoring, exercising, promotion and protection of minority rights, Stamenic said and recalled that the Serbian government adopted in June this year the Action plan for the implementation of the Strategy for the improvement of position of Roma to 1 January 2015.
Stamenic pointed out that the Ministry of Justice and Public Administration and the government have put a lot of effort into solving problems which the Roma minority is facing, especially in the areas of health, housing and the availability of personal documents.
She stated that the Serbian government adopted the Decision on the establishment of the Council for National Minorities, which monitors the exercising of rights of national minorities and the situation of interethnic relations in Serbia, reads a statement by the Ministry of Justice and Public Administration.
