Serbia welcomes agreement of Russian Federation, United States on Syria

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs today welcomed the agreement of the Russian Federation and the United States on resolving the situation in Syria, which creates an opportunity for a peaceful solution.
The Republic of Serbia expresses its opposition to the use of chemical weapons of mass destruction and as a signatory to the Convention on the prohibition and destruction of chemical weapons is strongly committed to its complete disappearance thereof.
Serbia expects a report of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon with assured that the findings of the UN mission will objectively show the factual information.
It is of paramount importance that the United Nations Security Council be the only place where this matter will be decided on, i.e., with all the prerogatives of the UN Charter, according to the statement.
