Opening a seminar on combating illegal migration, Bozovic said that Serbia is ready to address his problem very seriously at the regional and international level.
The problem can only be addressed effectively through greater cooperation between states and joint actions and measures, he said.
Balkan transit routes from Turkey and Greece via Macedonia and from Serbia to Hungary have become very popular in recent years, especially given the political instability in the Middle East and North Africa, Bozovic said.
He said that in the first half of this year, there is a trend of increase in the number of illegal immigrants who enter Serbia, adding that police prevented more than 5,000 attempted illegal crossings, particularly on the border of Serbia and Macedonia.
The seminar is organised by the French Embassy in Belgrade for the Serbian Border Police until 20 September.
In addition to Bozovic, the participants were also addressed by Head of the Border Police General Nenad Banovic and French attaché of the Interior Jean-Pierre Despres, according to a statement from the Ministry of Interior.
