Raising level of operational capacity of Serbian Army

Minister of Defense Nebojsa Rodic attended today a formal delivery of the MILES integrated system for simulation of shots, that has been purchased with the funds of the US Global Peace Operations Initiative.

Rodic pointed out that the system was funded by the Global Initiative for Peacekeeping Operations (GPOI), through the US Department of State.
The equipment is installed and will be primarily used for training units for multinational operations, the Minister said.
Some members to be deployed in these peaceops have undergone extensive training to operate the new system that through real life simulation of wartime c conditions, enables effective practicing of Serbian Army declared units, he said.
Speaking about the new layout of the Serbian Army, Rodic said that he is sure that the system that has just implemented a significant contribution to raising the operational capacity of the Serbian Army .
US Ambassador to Belgrade Michael Kirby said that by participating in multinational operations, Serbia has chosen the path towards peace in the world.
He highlighted the assistance provided by the Ohio National Guard, led by Major General Deborah Ashenhurst, in the professionalisation and training to participate in peacekeeping missions.
MILES is worth $1,160,000 and has about 120 pieces of weapons – 84 machine guns, eight machine guns, sniper caliber 9 by 7.9 and 12.7 mm and 4 element of vehicle equipment.
