Minister of Defence Nebojsa Rodic spoke today with Commander of the National Guard of Ohio Deborah Ashenhurst and US Ambassador to Serbia Michael Kirby.

During the meeting it was agreed that the military cooperation is a very important part of overall bilateral relations between the two countries, and both sides expressed commitment to further promotion of joint activities that enhance operational and functional capabilities of the Serbian Army.
Rodic thanked the US side for the assistance under the programmes of the FMF - Foreign Military Financing and the GPOI - Global Peacekeeping Operations Initiative.
The Minister pointed to the importance of the Master plan for the development of the centre for the training of units for multinational operations in the “South” military base, whose preparation was assisted by experts of the National Guard of Ohio.
Ashenhurst underlined that partnership with Serbia is of extreme importance and expressed satisfaction over realisation of all activities so far.
She voiced readiness to continue and improve all the existing forms of cooperation, particularly when it comes to the development of the “South“ military base and the training of the units of the Serbian Army, reads a statement by the Ministry of Defence.
