The Ministry of the Interior has been informed by the EU Delegation to Serbia that the amendment to the Regulation of the European Parliament and the Council governing the movement of persons across borders has come into force.
A statement by the Ministry specifies that the new amendment introduces the following criteria for travels of third-country nationals who cross the Schengen borders, i.e. borders of EU member states:
- that the travel document has been issued in the last ten years,
- that the travel document is valid at least three months from the intended date of exit from the territory of the EU member state. Exceptions to this criterion may be tolerated in justified cases,
- that the passengers who do not meet this criteria will be returned from the border and
- that there is no transitional period for the coming into force of this amendment.
